A Roofing Challenge with a Vision

When it comes to roofing challenges, Arriva Bus Garage in Wrexham posed a unique task for Gemini Roofing.

After a rigorous tendering process, Marcon Engineering chose Gemini Roofing and Cladding to support them on a rather complex project to modernise a bus depot in Wrexham. Marcon Engineering chose Gemini Roofing because of our extensive experience in projects like these and our flexible and collaborative approach.

Marcon Construction asked Gemini Roofing to take on the responsibility of replacing the roof, gutters, and downpipes at this vital location. However, this project came with its own set of challenges, notably the presence of non-licensed asbestos and persistent leaks in the existing roof.

Minimal Disruption, Maximum Efficiency

One of the remarkable aspects of this roofing project was our commitment to ensuring minimal disruption to the daily operations of the bus garage. Recognising the facility's critical role in the local transportation network, we meticulously planned and executed the project over a single weekend, allowing the bus garage to remain fully operational throughout.

Out with the Old, In with the New

The transformation of Arriva Bus Garage began with the safe removal of the existing roofing panels. This task required precision and care due to the presence of non-licensed asbestos.

Our Team removed this dangerous material safely and efficiently. We then installed brand-new Kingspan Quadcore KS1000RW roof panels in an elegant "goosewing grey" colour. These state-of-the-art panels not only enhance the garage's aesthetics but also improve its insulation and energy efficiency.

Harnessing Natural Light

Recognising the importance of a well-lit workspace, We also incorporated Kingspan Trapezoidal FAS daylight panels into the design. These innovative panels contribute to the garage's energy efficiency and flood the workspace with natural light, creating a more comfortable and productive environment for the mechanics.

Custom Craftsmanship

Our dedication to meeting the customer's specific requirements was commented on and appreciated by the Project Manager and the end client. To ensure a seamless fit and increase the roof's lifespan, we custom folded Trimline gutters from 0.7mm gauge steel, precisely matching the garage's unique specifications. This attention to detail not only enhances the functionality of the gutters but also adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of the facility while reducing the need for extensive alterations to the garage's roof.

Compliance and Safety

Throughout the project, the Team was steadfast in adhering to all relevant UK legislation concerning non-licensed asbestos removal and disposal. Their meticulous approach ensured the safety of all involved, including the mechanics working at the garage.

A Transformed Space

The result of the Team's dedication and craftsmanship is a rejuvenated workplace. This transformation not only improves the facility's functionality but also its overall appearance. The elegant "goosewing grey" roof panels, enhanced natural lighting, and custom-crafted gutters have elevated the space to new heights.

The collaboration between Gemini Roofing and Marcon Construction stands as a testament to what can be achieved when expertise, innovation, and dedication come together. The Bus Garage in Wrexham now boasts a roof that not only protects the workspace from the elements, ensuring that mechanics can carry out their essential tasks in a safe and well-illuminated environment, but also is much more aesthetically pleasing.

Cladding for commercial property
24 Mar, 2023
Introduction Commercial cladding is an essential component of any building's exterior design. Not only does it enhance the aesthetic appeal of the structure, but it also provides several practical benefits. In this blog, we will explore the benefits of commercial cladding, focusing on energy efficiency, increased property value, and reduced maintenance costs. Firstly, we will discuss how commercial cladding can significantly improve a building's energy efficiency. With rising energy costs and increasing environmental concerns, exploring ways to reduce energy consumption is essential. Commercial cladding can act as a barrier against heat loss or gain, thus reducing the need for heating or cooling. This, in turn, translates to lower energy bills and a smaller carbon footprint. Next, we will explore how commercial cladding can increase a property's value. In today's competitive real estate market, property owners are always looking for ways to increase their property's worth. Commercial cladding can provide a fresh and modern look to a building, appealing to potential buyers or tenants. Additionally, commercial cladding can protect a building's structure, thus extending its lifespan. Finally, we will discuss how commercial cladding can reduce maintenance costs. Over time, a building's exterior can become damaged due to weather, pollution, or general wear and tear. This can lead to expensive repairs or even replacement. However, commercial cladding can act as a protective layer against external damage, thus reducing the need for frequent maintenance.
